We want to provide free reusable cloth face masks to all students, teachers and school administrators in Malaysia. Help us make that happen.

1) Why are we leading this initiative?

Due to COVID-19, all schools in Malaysia were abruptly closed and students have been made to learn from home since Malaysia imposed the MCO on 18 March 2020.

Three months have passed and students and teachers have been struggling with effectively learning from home. Therefore, the Ministry of Education has announced that schools are to be reopened in stages beginning 24 June 2020. However, our battle against COVID-19 is not yet over until we find a vaccine.

  • The reopening of certain classes in schools will involve some 500,000 students at 2,440 schools
  • There are nearly 5 million students enrolled in MOE primary and secondary schools - click on this link to view stats - Quick facts 2019_Malaysia Educational Statistics

We want to ensure the safety of our schools during the reopening - that means providing our students, teachers and school administrators with reusable cloth face masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in schools.

2) About This Fundraiser

We have partnered with Mangosteen, a social enterprise that is working with a community of mothers to make reusable cloth face masks. They have agreed to donate their profits from these face masks by offering each face mask to 100% Project at cost.

Therefore, when you donate RM15 to this initiative, you are not only sponsoring one (1) free reusable cloth face mask to a school, you are also indirectly securing the livelihoods of a community of mothers who are sewing these face masks to support their families.

Below is a illustration of where your RM15 goes to.

In the spirit of transparency, we want to show you exactly where your money is going to.

Every single ringgit will be spent on securing the safety and the livelihoods of those most impacted by this global health pandemic through two key components:

  • Ensure that ALL schools (teachers, school administrators, students) get a FREE reusable cloth face mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19
  • Ensure mothers who are in need of a job to support their families get a steady flow of income, are paid a fair wage and are provided the resources, training and opportunity to become skilled artisans

If you have any questions on the above breakdown and components, please reach out to us at [email protected]

3) Our Fundraising Goal

We are aiming to raise enough funds to provide 1 million reusable cloth face masks to schools. To do this, we will need to raise RM15 million.

While this will be largest amount we will be attempting to fundraise, we believe that the generosity we have witnessed from Malaysians all over the country and around globe in the last 5 years is a testament that if we come together as a nation, we can do amazing things for our country.

We call upon everyone who believe that access to an excellent education is a human right and a necessity for a better Malaysia. Help us secure the safety of our school community so that everyone can teach and learn safely.

We cannot do this alone. We need all the help we can get to pull this off.

We will be raising this amount in different fundraising rounds:

Round #1 - RM300,000 for 20,000 reusable cloth face masks (starting 20 June 2020)

Round #2 - RM600,000 for 40,000 reusable cloth face masks

Round #3 - RM1.5 million for 100,000 reusable cloth face masks

Round #4 - RM12.6 million for 840,000 reusable cloth face masks.
